Beginner Woodworking Course

This course will focus on teaching woodworking skills so you will be comfortable using the shop for your future projects. You are not expected to have any woodworking experience or own any tools. You will be supplied with everything you need. The class size is small to guarantee a consistent amount of one on one instruction.

Over the course of three classes you will build a solid wood tool box from rough lumber to finished box. This can serve as storage for your future tool collection or a neat thing to show your mom. For more in depth please read the syllabus

This course includes checkouts for the Jointer, Planer, Table saw, and router table if you don't already have them.

the first of a series of drop in classes aimed at building skills using the tools at our disposal!

This class will teach you to take wood from rough lumber through the jointer and planer to prep then how to get perfect flat glue-ups to set you up for success on your future projects.

You do not need to be a member to take this course but you must buy the "non member" ticket price. It is $10 cheaper to become a memeber before taking this course.

Introduction to Hand tool Woodworking

In this 3 session class, learn to confidently use 10 essential hand tools while mastering the three core joints found in almost every piece of furniture.

This course is intended to get you started using hand tools, no prior woodworking experience is required. All tools and materials will be supplied.

No specific PPE is required, but please wear close-toe shoes.

Day 1: Tools & Fundamentals
Get comfortable with the basics: tool safety, what each tool does, and how to use them properly. You’ll start working on measuring and marking accurately, and leave with practical tips for purchasing and maintaining tools of your own.

Day 2: Joinery Basics
Learn how to think like an old-school woodworker. We’ll cover layout, reference surfaces, and marking techniques, then move into cutting two fundamental joints: the housing dado and the mortise and tenon.

Day 3: Dovetails
Bring it all together with the classic dovetail joint. You’ll learn how to lay out, cut, and fit a dovetail — a true benchmark of hand tool skill.
