Learn the basics of QGIS and Inkscape for designing laser cut map projects. At the end of this workshop, you’ll walk away with a matboard* river or street map of somewhere in British Columbia (chosen and designed by you!) and the skills needed to make more of your own maps in the future. You’ll learn to identify the types of data needed for your projects, manipulate the data in QGIS and Inkscape, and convert it to a format that you can use for laser cutting or printing.
Attendees are expected to bring their own computer with QGIS (the ‘standalone’ version 3.16 will be used - https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html), Inkscape (version 1.0.2 will be used -https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0.2/), and a mouse. If you do not have a computer, please contact Andrew at @adeelstra on the makerspace talk forum and we can try to make arrangements.

*or wood, depending on how much time we have.

Participants will be required to wear masks and show proof of two doses of COVID vaccination. This will be accomplished using the standard BC vaccine passport and a corresponding piece of id.
